Norwaste moved into new and larger premises at Øvre Vollgate 13 this summer and has expanded its advisory team with two new members starting in August.
Norwaste has examined product residues in plastic packaging and the differences between plastic packaging from centrally sorted residual waste and source sorting.
370 tons of plastic litter are cleaned up annually under the auspices of the Oslo municipality. Half of this consists of single-use plastic. The costs for this will soon have to be covered by the producers.
In a time of rising costs, expect increased focus on municipal fees. With underlying cost growth and increased requirements for source sorting, the need for cost savings is significant.
Increased requirements for source sorting and post-treatment are changing transportation needs and value chains for waste streams. Norwaste is investigating the potential for collaboration between ports and waste holders to achieve cost-effective and climate-efficient logistics.
Norwaste and Hold Norway Clean, with funding from the Retailers' Environmental Fund, have produced the report "Prevention of littering around recycling points." The report offers various measures and advice aimed at assisting municipalities and waste management companies in reducing littering. Sirkel, Fretex, and Sandnes Municipality have also contributed to the project.
